What's an object file in C?
...t from the compilation phase. It's mostly machine code, but has info that allows a linker to see what symbols are in it as well as symbols it requires in order to work. (For reference, "symbols" are basically names of global objects, functions, etc.)
A linker takes all these object files and comb...
Adding console.log to every function automatically
...there a way to make any function output a console.log statement when it's called by registering a global hook somewhere (that is, without modifying the actual function itself) or via some other means?

Convert to absolute value in Objective-C
...), fabsf(float), fabs(double), or fabsl(long double).
Those functions are all part of the C standard library, and so are present both in Objective-C and plain C (and are generally available in C++ programs too.)
(Alas, there is no habs(short) function. Or scabs(signed char) for that matter...)

moving changed files to another branch for check-in
... you have not made the commit yet, just run git stash. This will save away all of your changes.
Switch to the branch you want the changes on and run git stash pop.
There are lots of uses for git stash. This is certainly one of the more useful reasons.
An example:
# work on some code

Here are a few options:
1) Prefix your grep command with LC_ALL=C to use the C locale instead of UTF-8.
2) Use fgrep because you're searching for a fixed string, not a regular expression.
3) Remove the -i option, if you don't need it.
So your command becomes:
LC_ALL=C fgrep -A 5 -...

Why can't the C# constructor infer type?
...type inference?
No. When you have
new Foo(bar)
then we could identify all types called Foo in scope regardless of generic arity, and then do overload resolution on each using a modified method type inference algorithm. We'd then have to create a 'betterness' algorithm that determines which of t...
Strange, unexpected behavior (disappearing/changing values) when using Hash default value, e.g. Hash
...ere’s a hint:
h[42] #=> ["a", "b"]
The array returned by each [] call is just the default value, which we’ve been mutating all this time so now contains our new values. Since << doesn’t assign to the hash (there can never be assignment in Ruby without an = present†), we’ve nev...
