What is Castle Windsor, and why should I care?
I'm a long-time Windows developer, having cut my teeth on win32 and early COM. I've been working with .NET since 2001, so I'm pretty fluent in C# and the CLR. I'd never heard of Castle Windsor until I started participating in Stack Overflow. I've read the Castle Windsor "Getting Started" guide, b...
Adding an arbitrary line to a matplotlib plot in ipython notebook
I'm rather new to both python/matplotlib and using it through the ipython notebook. I'm trying to add some annotation lines to an existing graph and I can't figure out how to render the lines on a graph. So, for example, if I plot the following:

Is it intended by the C++ standards committee that in C++11 unordered_map destroys what it inserts?
I've just lost three days of my life tracking down a very strange bug where unordered_map::insert() destroys the variable you insert. This highly non-obvious behaviour occurs in very recent compilers only: I found that clang 3.2-3.4 and GCC 4.8 are the only compilers to demonstrate this "feature"....

How are Python's Built In Dictionaries Implemented?
Does anyone know how the built in dictionary type for python is implemented? My understanding is that it is some sort of hash table, but I haven't been able to find any sort of definitive answer.

Is there any difference between the `:key => “value”` and `key: “value”` hash notations?
...
Yes, there is a difference. These are legal:
h = { :$in => array }
h = { :'a.b' => 'c' }
h[:s] = 42
but these are not:
h = { $in: array }
h = { 'a.b': 'c' } # but this is okay in Ruby2.2+
h[s:] = 42
You can also use anything as a key with => so you can do this:

Why is not in HTML 5 Tag list while is?
..., the tags are meant to be semantic, not presentational. There is such a thing in English as "fine print". This is what the small tag represents. There is no analogous concept of "big print" except for a header, which is already covered by seven other tags.

What is the canonical way to determine commandline vs. http execution of a PHP script?
I have a PHP script that needs to determine if it's been executed via the command-line or via HTTP, primarily for output-formatting purposes. What's the canonical way of doing this? I had thought it was to inspect SERVER['argc'] , but it turns out this is populated, even when using the 'Apache 2.0 ...
