yes, i am sure. just look at the java-1.6.0-openjdk.x86_64 package information (scroll to the "Files" section) and see that there is no javac in that package. and then look at the OpenJDK Development Environment package.

The right answer is indeed:
View-->Report Data (ctrl+alt+D)
The tricky part: the 'Report Data' entry does not always appear in the 'View' dropdown...

Using pure Lucene is challenging. There are many things that you need to take care for if you want it to really perform well, and also, its a library, so no distributed support, it's just an embedded Java library that you need to maintain.
